Tata Motors PDI checklist
Tata has a strong petrol/diesel lineup and one of India's biggest EV ranges. EVs add a few inspection points you won't find on a petrol car.
Tata Motors' popular models include the Nexon, Punch, Harrier, Safari and Altroz, plus a leading EV range with the Nexon EV and Punch EV. The universal PDI applies - see the complete guide - with extra steps if you're buying electric.
The core checklist still applies
- VIN, engine/motor and chassis numbers match across car and documents
- Manufacturing date recent; odometer under ~50 km
- Paint, panel gaps, interior, electricals, tyres, fluids and a test drive
If you're buying a Tata EV
- Battery state of health - ask for the battery health/charge report and confirm it's near full
- Charging - test AC (slow) charging, and DC fast charging if possible, with the supplied cable
- Range display and drive modes behave correctly on the test drive
- Charging cable and accessories - present and undamaged
Frequently asked questions
What should I check when taking delivery of a Tata EV?
On top of the universal PDI, request the battery state-of-health report and confirm it's near full, test AC and DC charging with the supplied cable, check the range display and drive modes on the test drive, and confirm the charging cable and accessories are present and undamaged.
Is the PDI different for a Tata Nexon vs Nexon EV?
The body, interior and documents checks are the same. The EV adds battery-health, charging and range checks that a petrol or diesel Nexon doesn't need.
